I Am So Sick Of This!

Same here but IMO we have to USE THIS.

There is a WIDE OPEN door here!!!
The media is reporting stuff that plays into animal owners hands and I'm not sure people are even seeing it.

1. reports of three years ago the chimp bit someone. If that was a pitbull...?? Isn't that speciest?!

2. even more...look at reports of how this chimp was treated. Like a child. Later like a substitute spouse! She ate with him, "cuddled" with him at night, created a bond that came the expectation he was human. As many have said even here no matter how much some might view an animal as "part of the family" their reactions are ANIMAL. As a *chimp* his perception of this bond was it's his job to protect her and territory...and with tragic results. This underscores in 30 point bold type treating animals like people is bad for the animals...they're not people. They're chimps or dogs or whatever and when the chips are down they are going to act like their species. Humans often aren't even aware as to what that is.

This lady had her eyes torn out and 1/4 of her jaw ripped off. Her face was removed. This, removal of hands and feet is typical (not extraordinary) in chimp attacks *even on other chimps* (and for males ripping genetalia out is part of it too.)

I don't see this as a reason to ban exotics...and if we let them focus on that we're losing more ground. Treating ANIMALS like HUMAN EQUALS is what made this happen!

Sources that underscore this:
STAMFORD, Conn. – Travis the chimpanzee's relationship with his owner was closer than those of some married couples.
Sandra Herold gave him the finest food, and wine in long-stemmed glasses. They took baths together and cuddled in the bed they shared. Travis brushed the lonely widow's hair each night and pined for her when she was away..
If she left the house alone, Travis would give her a kiss.
"If I left with someone Travis would get upset," Herold said Wednesday..
Experts say the unusually human relationship would have been confusing for any animal. It may have also played a role in Travis' savage attack Monday on Herold's friend, 55-year-old Charla Nash of Stamford.
"This is a crazy relationship," said Stephen Rene Tello, executive director of Primarily Primates, a sanctuary for chimps in Texas. "He was probably very bonded with her. I can kind of see it in his eyes this is his surrogate mother."
And chimps like 14-year-old Travis, who was shot and killed by police, protect their mates and turf.
"If there is another person entering his space, he might consider it a threat to his territory, or even his mate," Tello said.

****************************
The animal control is wringing their hands and saying in effect "we told her in 2003 something would happen" -- so in six YEARS there was nothing they did to prevent it? They require dog owners to do all kinds of things to prove we're worthy. Why is an animal smart enough to use keys to let himself out of the home exempt?

I mean we can all sit here and say things to and eventually it'll happen...but the ACO wasn't concerned enough to do anything so why condemn now?
How many chimps are kept as pets? Does anyone even know? We must license our dogs and even though the numbers are distorted it gives a count.

This is a chance to show the consequences of treating animals as equals and as humans and expecting a human reaction from them. It doesn't work with dogs or horses or cats...or chimps that as they keep claiming are more like us than other animals. This should be a death blow for animal rights and keeping them as EQUALS.

Being "pragmatic" by being pessimistic is defeating yourself in advance. There are things that we can say that people will accept, essays and letters that we can write. This Richard Blumenthal who ironically once worked for the Nixon administration is using the chimpanzee incident as an excuse to attack all animal ownership, and yes, I take attacks on exotic animal ownership as attacks on all ownership. Even if it were targeted at one species I would have no sympathy because I know better.

We can praise owners of chimpanzees for the good that they do. Keeping animals is a good thing. You can always find words of criticism for anyone who owns any animal. Dogs and cats get it the worst because there are more of them. The habit of criticism is pernicious.

A large part of the fight is learning to say that what we do is right. To me it's "humans have the right to keep and own animals." We can state our case, hit and run, say that this proves little about the danger and mention the benefits to humans and animals, and yes I do believe that there are benefits. It gives us our world.

True, now if only everyone else would see this.

There's something that gives me hope, though.  You and I and the rest of us here have tremendous advantages because we are who we are.  Some of Richard Bach can be good for awakening us to that fact.  The only reason that we were ever defeated, when you take the larger view, is because someone swindled us into defeating ourselves.  The others don't have "it" and can't muster up anything that is their own because they lack the creative spark.  It's taken everything that they can do and all the deception and corruption that they have to get as far as they have, and we toughen up and at some point they get stuck again.  Bad laws have been repealed in bunches all through the last forty years.  Even southern sheriff's deputies, KKK members, have been brought to justice, so while this one is a bit rough, we can do this.

We must have some principles and stick with them.

When they do a commando raid on a home because someone's finger was bitten, that is not normal even for them. There has to be something behind it. That kind of conspiring against a citizen is far beyond the pale. They had to pay the Davises 100,000 dollars for that. When you realize what a coincidence it was for the loose chimp to appear at the time that they were serving the birthday cake, that's enemy action. That's one of (Warren) Murphy's laws of warfare. A person pushes her way in, gets her finger bitten, then an anomalous commando raid, then the mauling by other chimps when someone forgot to close a door or something. Then there was the escape by Moe. Three (or more) times is enemy action.

Calling it brainwashing may be giving them too much credit. The public is just getting used to it and resigned to it. I know that at least some of the public despises this treatment.

Animals and animal cases always present one of three or four kinds of opportunity to law enforcement and animal control..
1. Animal cruelty prevention
2. Public safety
3. Consumer protection
Each kind of case and story has to be "spun" differently, but all play on powerful human emotions:
1. Love / sympathy for animals (as quasi children)
2. Fear of animals (as dangerous rapacious monsters)
3. Hatred and anger towards other humans (often arising from or fueled by displaced stress and frustration from personal circumstances)
4. Guilt (fear of social rejection as a "bad person"), i.e."What's the matter with you, that you hate animals and won't defend their rights?"
Being aware of the very nature of these arguments, all used interchangably by the AR activists, points to the fact that they really do not love animals so much as they USE animals as catalysts and touch-points in social engineering and "political" / legislative / public opinion programs.
You will notice also that for those cooler head (especially the legal eagles and administrators) who may not be persuaded by emotion or sympathy towards animals, they try to bring in arguments to tie animals in to criminal behavior and social problems such as illegal gambling, drug use, domestic abuse and violence. These are all things which already have basis and standing in law and jurisprudence, so this is their other tactic, to point out that animal cruelty is an "early indicator" of violence or in other ways related to criminal conduct.
These ARs are definitely NOT crazy or stupid, people! PeTA would have us believe that, at times, with all of their antics, but HSUS has a lot of very calculating heads working on ways to completely control everything animal-related in the US.

I am so sick of hearing about that chimp attack!

The news media never reports anything good about exotic pet ownership, and certainly nothing about chimps in the private sector that's good, unless they can use it for their "Animals are so incredibly human!" agendas, but when it comes to attacks, they report and report and report, harping on one bad case that comes along once every 5 years, for the next five years, trying to drive home the idea that we shouldn't own these animals because they might go mad and attack just like the one on the news!

Give me a break!

I'm sick of it!

I don't ever want to see chimps on TV again!
