It’s full of the dirty secrets that these activist groups with fuzzy names—from the ”Humane Society” of the United States to Greenpeace–don’t want the public to know. This week, we’ve updated our profile of an organization known as the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Anytime you read a scary newspaper headline warning you that your lipstick or water bottle might be secretly killing you, this Environmental “Worrying” Group’s name will probably turn up.
EWG has recently been attacking Vitamin A (we’re not joking) as a supposed cancer-causing agent. With scaremongering that silly (and reckless), it’s no surprise that 79 percent of members of the Society of Toxicology believe EWG overhypes the health risks of chemicals.

The Environmental Working Group has perfected the art of duping science and health reporters. This is an organization that never met a food it couldn’t turn into a panicked newspaper headline. Not even vitamin A is safe from EWG’s poison pen.
