If you do a search for Pacelle.mp3 -mitchell, you will find other of his speeches to other groups. He's making the rounds, talking to church groups, and such. He's a charmer, alright. I found some pictures of him where he is just super slick.. One looks a little bit like Michael Jackson, he's got so much makeup on. Farmer's don't fall for that shit.. sorry. But, if you listen to this speech on this link, he's basically saying that HSUS has public opinion on their side, so they've got the juice to get what they want.

I think it's hidden under a mask of "Don't worry about me, I'm only interested in looking out for your and your animals' welfare, I'm just looking out for your own good and am not nutty like Peta." The truth is, their skewed idiologies are exactly the same, HSUS is just good at sleezily slithering its way into being accepted by the mainstream. Really interesting. Looks like HSUS is really trying to appeal more to the mainstream, and now they are even repackaging themselves for greater acceptance by the animal industries. Actually, rather predictable. If there were no more animal industries, HSUS would have less reason to exist. HSUS themselves may in fact become increasingly synthesized into the animal use community. That's where the money is, after all. The funny thing is that NAIA and HSUS seem both to be moving more towards the same end model. But what of the radical extremism? Has it been cast aside, or is it being hidden?

During a recent meeting of agricultural journalists in Washington, D.C., I had the opportunity to see and hear the president of the animal rights group that is winning the hearts and votes of Congress. Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), has also had exceptional success in state referendums, causing citizens to vote in favor of restricting the way animals are raised, transported and slaughtered. I expected Mr. Pacelle, (pronounce the final "e") to be an unkempt, wild-eyed, screaming activist. What I saw concerned me even more, as he had the handsome looks and quiet demeanor of the late John F. Kennedy, Jr. He is articulate and passionate but also businesslike about his cause. His speech, to a skeptical and potentially hostile audience, was informative and disarming. When he was finished, I asked myself if I had been duped by a polished lobbyist with a hidden agenda. I am still asking that question as I write this commentary. You may draw your own conclusion, as I taped the entire speech (35 minutes) plus his response to questions and placed it on the website at Wayne Pacelle speech. [snip] Bold, brazen, polished, savvy, determined and compassionate all describe the presence and words of Wayne Pacelle. He trumped animal agriculture on almost every front. If meat producers look at him as the enemy, then the tactics to confront his organization should change because the livestock industry is losing on all fronts today. (Listen to Wayne Pacelle's comments for yourself. My quotes were condensed in some cases but every attempt was made to keep them in context.)
